TrueAchievements Walkthrough: Human Fall Flat

Hello and welcome to the TrueAchievements walkthrough for Human Fall Flat. This is a physics based puzzle platformer with some pretty unique, and at times frustrating, controls, which has the player navigating through 9 different levels traversing the terrain and completing puzzles to get to the exit at each level.
This walkthrough will be broken up into sections based on levels, and one section for achievements you might still need to work on after your first run through. Each level will have a text and a video walkthrough accompanied with it.
You're looking at about a 6-8 hour completion on average. It also might take you a bit to get used to the controls, but I'll cover that in the general hints and tips. When I started this game the controls honestly frustrated me to the point where I had to stop playing for a bit, but once you're used to it you'll be climbing objects in no time.
Speaking of controls, lets head over to the General Hints and Tips so we can dive into the controls in more detail.

Basic Button Controls:

First thing I'm going to do is lay out the control scheme for you. It's pretty basic and minimalistic:
cn_A = Jump
cn_X = Collapse yourself
cn_LT = Left arm raise
cn_RT = Right arm raise
cn_LS = Move around
cn_RS = Look around

Gameplay Tutorials:

Here I'm going to outline the key tutorials the game will teach you, just so you don't have to waste time in game looking at them and get familiar with them here:
Controlling your arms:
If you pick up one of the first few walkie talkies, controlling the positioning of your arms is introduced and it's a very simple topic. You use the left trigger to raise your left arm and the right trigger to raise your right arm. Once they're raised, you use the right stick to look around, and your arm will position itself where it's looking. For example, if you need to press a button to open a door, hold your arm out and look at the button to get your arm level with the button.
Climbing:
Now climbing isn't introduced until level 4 - Mountain, but it's definitely worth knowing about. If you hold your arms above your head and place them on top of a ledge, move the right stick down and you'll pull yourself on top of the ledge if your arms are wrapped over or just at the top of the ledge. This works the same for ledges higher up. You can jump up or across to higher or farther ledges and, as long as your hands or arms are over or just on the edge of the ledge, you can move the right stick down to pull yourself up on top of the ledge.

The Cheese Method:

Okay so now I'm going to introduce a method that can be used to skip the majority of the map most of the time if you feel so inclined, or it can even help you get up to some tricky spots. For at least three achievements that I can think of you have to make use of this method so give it some practice as it's very useful.
So essentially this cheese method will let you climb up massive walls which you'd not be able to get up otherwise. What you need to do is walk up to a wall with your arms raised up and jump towards the wall. Let go of one arm and start swinging your body. Tilt the camera so it's looking up at you. Position it directly in the centre of the screen so your body is swinging side to side without hitting the wall (if your camera isn't centred you might tilt a bit and hit the wall, killing your momentum). Once you've gathered momentum, at the pinnacle of your swing, try and get the hand that isn't already attached to the wall to grab onto the wall at a higher point. Once you're attached at a higher point, you can then let go of the wall with your other hand and raise it to the level you're on. Repeat until you're over the obstacle you're trying to get over.
This description is a bit confusing so below is a clip I made showing the use of the method to skip to the end of the Carry level.
Study it, master it, and you'll be flying through this game.
With the basics out of the way, let's head to the next page to start our adventure.

Just a quick note. There is an achievement for completing the game in one sitting. This means that you cannot exit the game at any point and reload a checkpoint. So keep this in mind if you wish to do all of this in one playthrough.

Text Walkthrough:

We start off at the first level, Mansion. Right away we can earn two achievements my either rubber banding your controller or simply holding it for a bit in one spot. Position your camera so you're facing out into the great beyond (aka the edge of the map), and walk off. You'll fall down and fall right back onto the map again, unlocking your first achievement:
No escape in Human Fall Flat
No escape 11 (10)
Fall and respawn once
  • Unlocked by 26,277 tracked gamers (88% - TA Ratio = 1.06)29,966
Now you can rubber band your controller for a few minutes while facing the edge of the world and allow your character to walk off 99 more times, unlocking:
Let it rain in Human Fall Flat
Let it rain 43 (20)
Respawn 100 times
  • Unlocked by 6,398 tracked gamers (21% - TA Ratio = 2.16)29,966
With those two easy achievements out of the way, we can actually start playing the game. You can pick up the yellow walkie talkie for a tutorial but if you read and memorized the hints and tips you won't need it. Walk up the stairs and push open the doors to reach two more sets of stairs and our next achievement opportunity. You need to jump from where you are to the area across the gap. I actually nailed it my first try when I originally got the achievement and thought "wow this is easy", but as you can see in the video walkthrough I had a tough time doing it again, and doing the cheese method is also tough because your body can go under the platform. So what you need to do is run with your arms in the air (waving them like you just don't care is optional) towards the gap and jump as close to the end of the platform as you possibly can. Once you latch on to the other area, pull yourself up and you'll unlock:
Mind the gap! in Human Fall Flat
Mind the gap! 21 (10)
Take a big shortcut in the level "Mansion"
  • Unlocked by 6,844 tracked gamers (23% - TA Ratio = 2.09)29,966
Now once you're in your new area, you'll see a massive statue of yourself(?) standing over a fountain. Walk up the stairs to the left or right of this fountain and walk around to the fence behind the statue and stand so you're right behind its head. Climb up onto the fence and then from here, jump and climb on top of the statues head. Once you're standing on it, you'll unlock:
Pigeon Simulator in Human Fall Flat
Pigeon Simulator 19 (10)
Stand on the head of the statue in the intro
  • Unlocked by 8,143 tracked gamers (27% - TA Ratio = 1.91)29,966
Now jump down and climb back up the stairs and continue on and you'll see a door with a green exit sign above it. To open this door, simply hold out your arms so they're pressing both buttons at the same time. Once you do this, the door will open. Walk through and you'll fall, unlocking:
Leap of Fail in Human Fall Flat
Leap of Fail 20 (20)
Complete "Mansion"
  • Unlocked by 28,988 tracked gamers (97% - TA Ratio = 1.01)29,966

Now on to level 2.

Text Walkthrough:

When you're done falling, you'll land on level 2. First thing's first, walk over to the yellow dumpster up against the door. Pull it away from the door and push it over by the debris surrounding the train. Now walk behind it, and jump and grab onto the lid of it and allow yourself to fall back down, opening the lid on it. Now you need to walk over to the debris and pick up 5 pieces and place them in the dumpster (I'd suggest using the smallest pieces you can for this as it's easier). Once you place 5 pieces in, you'll unlock:
Public service in Human Fall Flat
Public service 22 (10)
Place 5 pieces of debris in a dumpster
  • Unlocked by 6,038 tracked gamers (20% - TA Ratio = 2.22)29,963
Now you need to climb in the dumpster and go for a little joyride. It's a bit awkward and tough to get the dumpster to move, but what I did was go to either the front or back of it, grab onto it with both arms, and jump. That way I'd be pushing the dumpster without actually jumping out of it. I rode it from beside the debris to almost the edge, then turned around. Repeat this process and you'll get:
Convertible ride in Human Fall Flat
Convertible ride 77 (30)
Ride 50m in a dumpster
  • Unlocked by 4,598 tracked gamers (15% - TA Ratio = 2.55)29,963
You can also track this achievement to see how far you've gone. Now that those are out of the way, continue through the only door in the area, and immediately to your right you'll see a bench flipped upside down (kids these days eh?). Since you're on a roll with being such a good human, you should take it upon yourself to make this right. Walk in front of it and grab it and push it forwards to flip it right side up again. Now the annoying part is getting it up against the wall, as you can't simply push it from the front. What I did was go to one end of the bench and pull it as far as I could towards the wall, then went to the other end of the bench and did the same. I repeated this until the bench was flush against the wall. Once you do that, you'll get:
Perfectionist in Human Fall Flat
Perfectionist 22 (10)
Align a flipped bench with a wall
  • Unlocked by 6,141 tracked gamers (20% - TA Ratio = 2.21)29,963
Now that you've done your civic duty for the level, turn around and you'll see some red train cars in an L shape. You'll want to pull the one that is parallel to the bench you just fixed towards it's yellow bearings so you're able to push the train car that is parallel with the door you want to go through onto it's yellow bearings and out of the way of the door. Once you've done that, head through the door into the next area. You'll see two more red train cars, one on the ground and one on a raised platform. Jump on top of the red train car on the ground, and then jump and pull yourself up to the red train car on the upper level. Head to the left of this and push the train car off the ledge so you can proceed through the door it was blocking.
In this next area you'll be in a park with a red box car. What you need to do is go on the red box car and grab onto the wall. While you're holding onto the wall, you need to walk to the left, and as you're doing this, you'll notice the box car moving towards the right (physics!). Keep doing this, readjusting yourself so you don't fall off, until you're able to jump to the platform with the next door and push the button to open the door and head into a hallway where you have to push another button to open another door to head on through.
Climb up the set of stairs and you'll see three box cars. Climb up the second set of stairs and walk onto the red box car. Grab onto the pillar and walk to the right, pushing the box car to the left. You can only go so far though, so once you reach the end you'll have to go to the second pillar and repeat. Keep doing this, repositioning if necessary, until you're able to hop on the box car with wooden planks on either side of it. From here, hop across to the long box car and walk down it. Walk up the set of stairs over here, push the button to open the door, and walk on through. As you're falling, you'll unlock:
Choo Choo! in Human Fall Flat
Choo Choo! 22 (20)
Complete "Train"
  • Unlocked by 25,465 tracked gamers (85% - TA Ratio = 1.08)29,963

All aboard! Next stop, level 3!

Text Walkthrough:

Welcome to level 3, and I'm sure as you can tell by the name of the level, you're going to be doing a lot of carrying. I'm going to give you some good news right off the bat as I earned the achievement for walking 1 km in this level, so odds are you will too. And if not this one, then level 4 for sure.
Tourist in Human Fall Flat
Tourist 22 (20)
Travel 1km
  • Unlocked by 24,376 tracked gamers (81% - TA Ratio = 1.10)29,966
Now back to the fun stuff, first thing you need to do is pick up the box close to you and place it on the button. Doing this will open the door to the next area. Now we are going to be setting up for the Tower achievement, which requires us to stack all 4 boxes in the level on top of each other. If the text is too hard to follow, definitely use the video walkthrough for it. The level is broken up into 4 areas, with the first area being the area you spawn and the last section being the area with the exit door. Grab the box on the ledge to your left and carry it back into the area where you spawned. Now grab the box that is currently on the button and take it off. Grab the box you took from the second area and place it on the button.
Now before we continue we're gonna take a little pause for another miscellaneous achievement. Place the box that was previously on the button in the middle of the door heading to the second area. Head back to the button and take the box off of it and place it beside it. You'll notice the other box is holding the door open. Jump on top of the box stuck in the door and keep walking forward until you limbo through the door, unlocking:
It's stuck in Human Fall Flat
It's stuck 18 (10)
Jam a door and go through it in "Carry"
  • Unlocked by 9,470 tracked gamers (32% - TA Ratio = 1.77)29,966
Now go back and place the box you took off the button back onto it to open the door again. Take the box that was stuck in the door and bring it into the second area. Now go and grab the box off the button in the starting area and, while holding it, jump off the edge. You'll fall and respawn with the box in the second area.
Going to make a note of this here so you don't think you can do this with any box. The reason this box respawned here is because this is it's original spawn. That's why we swapped the original box on the button with this one.
Now that we have that all straightened out, you need to place the box from the first area on the button in this area. This will open the door to the third area and make sure you bring the box that spawns the second area into this third area. Once you're here, bring this box onto the lift and push the button on the lift to raise it up. Once you're up top, place the box on the button to open the door to area four. In this area, you need to drop down and grab the box. Carry it over to the lift and push the button on the lift to raise it up. Once you're at the top, carry the box onto the red box car here and place it at the far left end of it. You then need to grab onto the wall and walk to the right to move the box car to the left. Once it's over far enough, grab the box again and jump over to the ledge and head back into the third area.
Now that you're back in the third area, place the box from the fourth area on the ground by the ledge that has the door to the second area. Now you need to place the box from the third area on top of the box from the fourth area. Once you manage this, jump and pull yourself up onto the ledge leading to the second area, and grab the box from the third area off the top of the box from the fourth area. Once you do this, carry this box back into the second area and drop it. Take the box that is on the button in the second area and drop it somewhere away from the box you just brought from the third area. Place the box from the third area on the button, and carry the box from the first area into the third area and place it anywhere. Now take the box on the button in the second area and jump off. You should land back in the third area and have all four boxes in the third area.
Now you just need to stack all the boxes. Grab two boxes and stack them on top of each other on ground level up against the ledge that has the button to open the door to the fourth area. Push the lift button on the ground level to call the lift back down and grab the only box left on ground level, take it onto the lift, and push the button on the lift to take it up to the top. Place the box that you brought with you on the lift on top of the two boxes that are already stacked, then take the last box off the button for the fourth area and place it on top of all three boxes. Once you do this successfully, you'll unlock:
Tower in Human Fall Flat
Tower 52 (20)
Stack all 4 boxes in the level "Carry"
  • Unlocked by 4,490 tracked gamers (15% - TA Ratio = 2.58)29,966
Now for the easy part, finishing the level. Take one of the boxes off your beautiful tower and place it back on the button to open the door to area 4. Grab one of the other boxes from your tower and bring it with you through the door and place it on the button just in front and to the right of you as soon as you walk into area 4. This will open the door. Now simply hop across the box car or take the lift, walk through the door, and as you're falling you'll unlock:
Don't Get a Splinter! in Human Fall Flat
Don't Get a Splinter! 22 (20)
Complete "Carry"
  • Unlocked by 23,719 tracked gamers (79% - TA Ratio = 1.12)29,966

Now we will continue on to level 4.
